What is 'Solibrarity'?

There was no word to describe the act of organizing a community of change-wanters to publish activist titles and spread solidarity for social change-makers by freely distributing their books through the library system... so we made one up.

We exist to counter the suppression of truth, knowledge, culture, and discovery.

The erosion of truth in public life, marked by historical erasure, suppression of critical education, underfunding of vital cultural and scientific work, and the silencing of activist and marginalized voices, is creating a crisis of collective knowledge. As misinformation spreads and resources for truth-telling are withheld, society loses its ability to confront urgent global challenges—from climate change to human rights—threatening both democracy and humanity's survival.

Countering suppression for a collective future starts with

Pooling small contributions through donations to create a new kind of cultural grant-making system that puts power back into the hands of everyday people.

Then, we use these contributions to publish the critical works of activists, scholars, scientists, nonprofit leaders, and other changemakers to ensure marginalized histories, activist struggles, and scientific truths are documented, preserved, and widely circulated.

2

Copies of each book are donated to libraries across rural, underserved, and politically repressed areas in the United States, ensuring that a single act of publishing turns into thousands of possible readers with free access to crucial works.

3

Each published title provides direct funding, visibility, and legitimacy for authors, bypassing gatekeeping by traditional publishers or grant competitions.

4

Because we believe in a future that belongs to all of us.

Emails worth opening

We don’t send emails that aren’t informational, inspirational, or transformational. Instead, we focus on connecting our community, getting to know authors, and providing insights and excerpts from manuscripts and published titles.
